Playmobil Blue Citroën 2 CV Car 70640

Playmobil 70640 Citroën 2 CV

The Citroën 2 CV was born from an unusual brief: it had to be able to cross a ploughed field with a basket of eggs without breaking a single one, carry 50 kilos of load and use less than 3 litres per hundred kilometres. It was unveiled at the 1948 Paris Motor Show, the press dubbed it “four wheels under an umbrella”… and it went on to sell more than five million units until 1990. In Spain it was built in Vigo from 1958.

Playmobil has reproduced it under official Citroën licence in pale blue, with the chrome double-chevron grille, round headlights, whitewall wheels and the 2023 CV 02 number plate. It measures 22.5 cm and the canvas soft top comes off: the whole roof lifts away, just like on the real car. The tailgate opens too.

A whole scene inside the box

This set is not just the car. Playmobil built a French country-road story around it, and one look at the accessories tells you what it is: there is a gendarme in uniform and kepi, a pistol, a travel bag… and two diamonds. Somebody has some explaining to do.

On the other side, good old rural France: a farmer with hat and beard, two metal milk churns, a pig and two geese. And behind the wheel, a girl in a Breton striped top.
