Playmobil 70177 Volkswagen Beetle

Playmobil 70177 Volkswagen Beetle

Loaded roof rack, suitcase strapped on, surfboard on top and the family inside. That is how this set begins, and how millions of real holidays began: the Volkswagen Beetle is the car built the most times on a single platform, with more than 21 million units produced up to 2003.

Playmobil reproduces it under official Volkswagen licence in classic blue, with curved wings, white hubcaps, round headlights and the Spanish number plate PM 21 70177. It measures 23.5 cm.

The detail that changes everything: the engine

The rear bonnet opens to reveal the 4-cylinder boxer engine, reproduced piece by piece. It is the nod anyone who knows the Beetle will recognise: the engine is at the back, not the front. The roof also comes off and the roof rack is removable.

A complete trip to the beach

The set does not stop at the car. It comes with all the luggage for a day at the beach: surfboard, suitcase, cool box, parasol, towel, sandcastle with bucket, spade and rake, plus three bottles. Put whatever does not fit inside on the roof rack and off you go.

The two Beetles at todotoy

Playmobil has made the Beetle twice, and the difference matters:

• 70177 · this one — blue, 52 pieces, 3 figures and all the beach gear. The set for playing and displaying
• 70827 · Special Edition — limited edition with a gold seal and a unique serial number on each box. Sold out in the Spanish market

If you collect Volkswagen, they are different pieces: one is the street Beetle, the other is the numbered display edition.

The complete Volkswagen family

The back of the 70177 box itself suggests it: its natural companion is the 70176 Volkswagen T1 Camping Bus, the red 74-piece van with a complete camper interior. In display format you have the 71857 T1 Camper Collector Cars and the T1 country editions: Spain, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands and Mexico.

More licensed classics: 70922 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL and 70640 Citroën 2 CV. All in Playmobil vehicles.

Who is it for?

For classic car fans who want the most-produced car in history on their shelf, and for anyone looking for a real play set: three figures, an opening car and a whole beach of accessories. A safe gift for any Volkswagen fan.
