Playmobil 70827 Volkswagen Beetle - Special Edition

Playmobil 70827 Volkswagen Beetle · Special Edition

The Beetle, the car built in greater numbers than any other model in history, reproduced by Playmobil under official Volkswagen licence and in the format it keeps for its serious pieces: a special collector's edition.

This is not just another box. It carries the gold “Limited Edition Collectible” seal on the front and, according to Playmobil's product sheet, each unit comes with its own serial number. That is the detail that sets it apart from ordinary Playmobil vehicles and explains why collectors look for it years later.

A 23.5 cm Beetle

The model comes in cream yellow, with the unmistakable Beetle shape: rounded wings, domed bonnet, round headlights with chrome bezels, tubular bumper and light hubcaps. On top, the chrome roof rack with a travel suitcase strapped on.

• 🔹 23.5 cm long · 1:17 scale · 51 pieces
• 🔹 Removable roof and opening rear bonnet
• 🔹 Fits 4 Playmobil figures inside
• 🔹 Chrome roof rack with travel suitcase
• 🔹 1 figure and car-wash accessories: bucket, sponges and hose

Why this box is no longer available

Playmobil stopped making it and it is now sold out through the usual channels: Spanish shops list it as unavailable. What is left is in the hands of shops like ours and collectors, and in these cases the price only moves in one direction.

If you want it sealed — which is how a numbered edition should be — this is one of the remaining opportunities.

Its sister set and the rest of the Volkswagen family

Playmobil released these special editions in pairs: the Beetle 70827 and the 70826 T1 Camping Bus, which appears on the back of this very box. Together they are the set VW collectors are after.

At todotoy you will also find the rest of the Volkswagen family:

• Volkswagen Beetle 70177 — the catalogue version, in blue
• 70176 · T1 Camping Bus — the large van with full interior and visible engine
• 71857 · T1 Camper — from the Collector Cars series

And the T1 country editions for the 2026 Football World Cup: Spain, Germany, Belgium, Netherlands and Mexico.

Who is it for?

For Volkswagen collectors, for Playmobil collectors, and above all for those who collect both. As a gift it is one that impresses: a numbered, sealed box of a car everyone recognises. And if it is opened, it can be played with too: the roof comes off, the bonnet opens and four figures fit inside, alongside the rest of the Playmobil vehicles.
